The GIBS pocketed $27 million on the side. According to auditors, he illegally sent money to another account
The clash between Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), then still without confidence, and the head of the General Inspectorate of Security Forces (GIBS), Michal Murín, was one of the most followed stories of this spring. The opposition accused Babiš of trying to control the security forces in order to cover up his criminal prosecution in the Čapí hnízdo case. The prime minister deflected the attacks by saying he had serious information about how the inspectorate was being run. Murín himself resigned under pressure, but until today it was not clear whether and what exactly was wrong with the money in the GIBS.
