GIBS deployed wiretaps in 172 cases last year
Last year the General Inspectorate of Security Forces (GIBS) deployed wiretaps in a total of 172 cases involving 51 criminal files. Compared to 2016, this represents an increase of more than a third. The most frequent wiretaps affected police officers and employees and civilians. This is according to an analysis of completed operations, which will be discussed by the government on Tuesday along with a report on the inspectorate’s activities. The inspectorate monitored persons or things in 258 cases.
