The largest source of drinking water in Slovakia is losing its increased protection. It could supply three million people
Officials at the Ministry of the Environment have granted the developers who did not agree to extend the protection zone of the drinking water reservoir under Šamorín. The District Office in Bratislava can save the situation by issuing an interim measure, otherwise the developers can start building. According to water managers’ plans, water from Šamorín was supposed to replace drying water sources from western to central Slovakia.
