He is a terrorist, Supreme Court upholds four-year sentence for pensioner Balda
The four-year sentence for pensioner Jaromír Balda, convicted of a terrorist attack on a railway and threatening a terrorist act, stands. The Supreme Court rejected Baldo’s appeal. Balda, an SPD sympathiser, cut down trees that fell on the tracks. His act was intended to create fear among people about migration. Balda cut down two trees on railway tracks in Central Bohemia in June and July 2017. He then scattered leaflets written in Latin and in deliberately distorted Czech around the area to give the impression that the felled trees were the work of Islamist terrorists. In both cases, a train crashed into the trees, but it was only by a happy coincidence that it did not derail and none of the two dozen passengers were harmed.
