The state as a sheltered workshop? Politicians hand out subsidies and benefits to keep their power
More and more often I am encountering a remarkable phenomenon – millennials with a decent income are drawing a housing allowance that allows them to afford to live in the most lucrative parts of Prague. The government has made this possible thanks to generous limits. And some young people follow a simple motto: stupid to give, stupider not to take. Just to give you an idea, the average employee in Prague with a gross salary of CZK 52 000 will receive a contribution of almost CZK 5 000.
