Scientists are looking for a Czech turtle. They have a chance in the Breclav region
That the turtle is not at home in the Czech Republic? Wrong. The Břeclav region is literally a paradise for the exotic animal. Apart from the fact that specimens imported from abroad live here, scientists believe that it is here that they will find species with domestic origin. For years, zoologists have been convinced that there is no truly native turtle on our territory.

For years, Czech experts have been searching for whether the original native species of turtle – the bog turtle – lives in the country. The most promising place where its population could be sustained seemed to be the Breclav region. A curious coincidence recently confirmed that they were right.
