Grant fraud and 45 million in damages? European prosecutor indicts Olomouc’s ‘businessman of the year’
The European Prosecutor’s Office, based in Luxembourg, is investigating a possible subsidy fraud by a Czech company in excess of CZK 45 million. The server iROZHLAS.cz has discovered that the police believe that the Litovel company Hopax should have inflated the prices of the machines it bought with EU subsidies. The European prosecutor said that a possible conclusion on guilt and punishment is being discussed. The owner and managing director of the company, Jozef Pavlik, did not want to comment until the outcome was clear. However, the ministry, led by Minister Jozef Sikel (for STAN), did not want to comment on the case.
