Large capacity landfill Veterná Poruba is closed illegally
In the spring of this year, our landfill began overflowing, and increased incidences of leachate were noted. Approximately one third of the landfill is covered by less than 60 centimetres, whereas the entire landfill is supposed to be covered by a 1.5 metre layer of clay, soil and geotextile. In another area of the landfill this layer does not even reach 90 centimetres. It follows that the water that should have been diverted away from the landfill is now seeping out..
