Most families with children, working or not, have a lower standard of living than non-working seniors. The only group that is slightly better off are families with an only child. The author is a sociologist and former prime minister. The standard of living in Slovakia is the lowest in the European Union. Within the overall low standard of living, which is only half of the median family income in the EU, working seniors have the highest net income. Only childless workers and working couples with an only child have a higher disposable income than seniors without a working income.
