Drivers trap. The motorway only confuses them, fines due to speeding increase
Two thousand motorists have already received a ticket from a speed camera on the D4 motorway. They have no idea they’ve been caught in a trap. At Nová Hospoda near Písek, the motorway suddenly ends and turns into a road for motor vehicles, with speeds reduced from 130 km/h to 110 km/h. Hardly anyone notices. And that’s where the section radar is located.

Proven drivers are worrying the authorities in Písek. New section of D4 will be loss-making without fines
The weighing and section speed measurement system started to operate on the new D4 motorway from Prague to Písek in South Bohemia this week. So far, however, they report only disciplined drivers. This could cause problems, however, as the operation needs to raise around CZK 6.5 million a year.
Drivers on the new section of the D4? Not a chance, there are hundreds of offences
From 22 January, a new system started measuring speed on the newly opened motorway between Prague and Písek. In less than a month it has recorded hundreds of offences. Dozens of drivers a day exceed the prescribed 130 kilometres a day. The two newly recruited officials at Písek City Hall have their hands full.
