No fourth operator, instead a gnawing inflation and a new head of the CTU with more modest tasks
It is important for cheaper data that a fourth operator comes to the market, former Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlíček proclaimed when explaining why he replaced the head of ČTU and put Hana Továrková in an influential position. She subsequently pushed through such conditions for the auction of 5G frequencies in 2020 that it was clear that a fourth nationwide operator would not emerge. Now, two years on, we are likely to see the small players divest their auctioned frequencies, further consolidating the position of the big three – O2, T-Mobil and Vodafone.
