Brno will not return the Tugendhat villa to the heirs
Brno city councilors do not want to return the Tugendhat villa to its descendants. They claim that the law does not allow the free transfer of the famous, world-protected building. Today, Brno city councilors made a final decision not to return the unique Tugendhat villa. Their decision is based on a legal interpretation that the villa and the land surrounding it cannot be considered a work of art. It is precisely works of art that can be returned to the original owners based on the law aimed at remedying certain injustices caused by the Holocaust, which the Tugendhats refer to in their request.
