The gold rush is over
Businessman faces criminal charges against gallery owner and painter Kamil Bahbouh, a businessman who tried in vain to take over the giant construction company Metrostav a year and a half ago, was a major player in the contemporary Czech art trade throughout the 1990s. He ran the Gema Art gallery, represented several important artists (such as painters Jiří Sopek and Jiří Mrázek), organised exhibitions in cooperation with state institutions and traded in art. Weber told the weekly EURO that in the early 1990s he trusted Bahbouh implicitly, lent him money and bought art objects through him.
