Billionaire Rattaj wants new ski slopes on Ještěd. According to ecologists and the Liberec opposition, further felling makes no sense
The company of Slovak billionaire Igor Rattaj intends to build two new ski slopes and a cable car on Ještěd. However, the expansion of the complex is conditional on a change in the zoning plan and the subsequent clearing of more than fifty hectares of forest. This has been criticised by environmentalists and the Liberec opposition.

The politician wants to personally block the felling of Ještěd. “It’s absurd,” he thinks
Jan Korytář, a Liberec politician and candidate for governor, wants to personally block the planned felling of the forest at Ještěd. Parents for Climate are also against the felling and the building of a new ski slope, and have written a petition to protect the trees. The company TMR Ještěd, which belongs to the Tatry Mountain Resorts group owned by Slovak billionaire Igor Rattaj, wants to cut down 6.6 hectares of forest on Ještěd. It plans to build the Nová Skalka ski slope on the plain.
