The court freed Železný, he did not want to harm his creditors
Vladimír Železný, the former director of Nova Television, was acquitted of attempting to harm a creditor on Wednesday afternoon at the High Court in Prague. The appeals chamber also acquitted his lawyers Aleš Rozehnal and Ondřej Kuchar. According to the court, the property transfers they carried out were not a criminal offence and could not have endangered the repayment of liabilities to Central European Media Enterprises (CME). The appeals court thus overturned the three-year prison sentence suspended for a four-year probationary period in Železný’s case, as well as the three-million-dollar fine originally imposed by the Municipal Court in Prague. The conditions given to the pair of lawyers at the City Court are also not valid.
