Police chased the teenager in his father’s car. He died and cars were on fire on D1
A tragic accident stopped the D1 motorway in the Highlands this afternoon. A 17-year-old driver, who was chased for tens of kilometres by police patrols for taking the car from his father, died. As he tried to avoid the roadblock, he crashed into other cars, two of which burned. Another person was seriously injured in the accident. The young man’s father had already reported to 158 on Thursday that his son had stolen his vehicle and was using it illegally.
