The ability to tap phones without a judge’s order in urgent cases would be a boon to the police. “If the police are to take timely and effective action against criminals suspected of criminal activity, such a change is necessary,” Denisa Bárdyová, a spokeswoman for the Police Presidium, told TASR. She added that the proposed change is part of a forthcoming amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code.
