Where foxes say goodnight? A taboo in liberal Czechia, but in rigid Slovakia, it’s happening like on a conveyor belt

Hana Kubátová: Where foxes say good night

Hana Kubátová has written an excellent book that connects the historical figures at the centre of the action with those who stood on its periphery. In this “integrated way of writing history”, she conveys expert knowledge through narrative treatment, and based on the memory of family roots, survivors’ stories and archival work, she has mapped the birth of Christian nationalism in Slovakia during World War II. Win-Win or “From the puddle to… hell”

Note: “Where foxes say goodnight” is a Slovak/Czech idiom meaning a very remote or backward place..
