Tracks in the Czech Republic are preparing for 200 km/h. The first route will lead to the south of Bohemia
It has been twenty years since a train travelled at a speed of over 200 kilometres per hour on the publicly operated railway line between Breclav and Vranovice in the Czech Republic. At that time, a train borrowed from Austria on the regular line was travelling at 216 km/h. Since then, several other speed records have been set on the Czech railway, but the passengers themselves have never known such speeds. The maximum speed limit on domestic railways is 160 km/h, although locomotives and wagons have long been able to travel at much higher speeds. However, this should change fundamentally in the next three to five years.

The Pendolino was going almost 240 kilometres per hour. But it’s been 20 years
Although the record fell 20 years ago, Pendolino is still one of the fastest and most comfortable vehicles on the Czech railway. This report could almost be included in the Retro section. It has been 20 years since the Pendolino 680 001 train set a speed record in Czech railway transport with a speed of 237.04 kilometres per hour. It is still valid today. And it probably won’t be beaten for a long time with the planned lines at a speed of just 200 kilometres per hour. The record was set on the Brno – Breclav line and was a milestone for the railway industry in the country.
