The devices refuse to connect – instead of resuscitating, the paramedics keep restarting the Tempus monitor over and over

“We’re being bullied,” say paramedics who warn against the device

Late August. Rescuers in Vysočina are on their way to a patient in critical condition. In the ambulance they fight for his life. Cardiac massage and artificial respiration are in progress. At such a moment, they need to immediately pair two devices – a vital signs monitor with a defibrillator to monitor the heart rhythm and, if necessary, send an electric shock that can restart the heart. But the devices refuse to connect. Four or five times the paramedics turn them off and on. Still nothing. On about the seventh try, they finally connect. Meanwhile, the minutes that can make the difference between life and death in CPR are ticking away. This time it’s a happy ending. The patient survived despite complications with the technique.
