Alain Soubigou is not allowed to teach at the Sorbonne because of sexism and racism, and now he is heading to the Czech Republic for a lecture. “Nobody is perfect,” says the organiser
French historian and bohemian Alain Soubigou has been suspended from the University of Sorbonne for six months. According to the commission, the bohemian was supposed to have downplayed some war crimes, such as rape during World War II. He described these as “misdemeanours” and also implied that women were raped willingly during the wars. During one of his classes, he also talked about the French philosopher Élisabeth Badinter, whom he described as a “clever feminist”. “That can happen too,” he told the students. Another student was to be compared to a cow.
