No driving licence required. For police checks, identification, such as your birth number, is now sufficient.
Since the New Year, drivers in the Czech Republic do not need to carry a driving licence or a small technical licence. The obligation is abolished by an amendment to the Road Act. Motorists no longer face a fine for forgetting their documents. “The new law will help especially in situations when a person forgets his or her licence at home. It is unnecessary to impose a penalty on drivers,” explains Transport Ministry spokesman Filip Medelský.
