The disease of the third power
In 2011, she made the film The Sickness of the Third Estate, which deals with the state of the current Slovak judiciary. Because of this film, Zuzana Piussi faced a lawsuit for breach of confidentiality of oral expression and was threatened with a sentence of up to two years in prison. The filmmakers faced the lawsuit together with Slovak Television. The reason for this is Zuzana Laukova’s interview with Helena Kožíková, then president of the Bratislava District Court and former member of the Slovak Judicial Council. Lauková is the daughter of Judge Marta Lauková, who refused to be influenced in her decision to detain a gang member and was subsequently allegedly bullied by the court management even during a serious illness.
