“They won’t have a crown left.” Private homes for the elderly will be able to collect their entire pension. The change was approved by the committee
The proposal to abolish limits on payments in private nursing homes was discussed by MPs on the House of Commons Social Affairs Committee. The opposition pointed out that private facilities could demand the entire pension from seniors. Today, they are obliged to keep part of the money. But the committee approved the proposal by a vote of coalition MPs. The amendment to the Social Services Act was sidelined, but MP Jana Bačíková (ODS) tabled a last-minute amendment that would allow private homes for the elderly to legally charge seniors or their families any amount of money.
