Twenty years of EU subsidies: they’ve brought crime, but also trains, technology and navigable rivers
A spa that never came into existence and is now a nightclub or a drawbridge that never went up. In 20 years in the EU, the Czech Republic has received subsidies for many projects, some of which have left only an aftertaste. But others have helped – South Moravia bought its own trains, Prague extended its metro and Pilsen has a technology park. The editors of iDNES.cz have mapped what the Czech Republic has done well with EU money and where it has done less well.
