The Pilsner Urquell story that never fails to inspire
In 1842 the townspeople of Pilsen, privileged with the right to brew beer, founded and jointly built the Town Brewery. The first batch of lager, which later conquered the whole world under the name Pilsner Urquell, saw the light of day on 5 October of the same year. It was brewed by the brewer Josef Groll in the former Měšt’anský pivovar. The lager quickly gained popularity both at home and abroad for its sharp and delicious taste.
