Gazeta Wyborcza’s website describes the Czech government’s decision to suspend the intergovernmental consultations as a serious souring of relations between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which was caused by Fico’s pro-Russian stance. Wyborcza recalls a statement made by former Slovak ambassador to Prague Peter Weiss to the daily SME, according to which one of the initiators of the intergovernmental consultations was Fico himself.
