Even in Czechoslovakia they could make a sports car. Skoda could compete with Porsche, Tatra with luxury BMW
After the end of the Second World War, the automobile industry first had to recover, and when it did, the forty-year rule of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia arrived. It brought with it central planning and swept almost all the inventiveness of Czechoslovak designers off the table. Most of the cars were thus made for either family or state purposes. There were few serial sports models with coupe or convertible bodies, and more such cars appeared in the concept phase.
