Who’s the Polednice?
A mythical creature that is supposed to come out of hiding at noon and punish those who work at that time. Whoever sees it must stop working and stand still or go home. If they do not, the evil being will cut them or kill them with his touch. The midwife would take away naughty or disobedient children.
