A South Bohemian police officer who shot and killed a man during a raid on a cottage in the Jindřichův Hradec region, near the village of Smržov near Lomnice nad Lužnicí, faces up to 10 years in prison. He now faces charges of manslaughter and abuse of official authority, according to the General Inspectorate of Security Forces.

Police officer gets 3.5 years in prison for shooting aggressive cottager

Police officer shoots aggressive cottager, won’t go to jail after all

Police officer David Knapík, who shot and killed an aggressive drunken man during a raid in the Jindřichohradec region, will not go to prison. He was supposed to serve 3.5 years behind bars for manslaughter and abuse of power, but the Prague High Court on Wednesday commuted his sentence to a three-year suspended sentence with a five-year probationary period. The decision is final.
