Spišský Štiavnik faces the consequences of a fire: 140 people from a Roma settlement left homeless
The fire destroyed 11 dwellings. The municipality has placed the inhabitants in a community centre and the crisis staff will decide on the next steps. After Tuesday’s (22 July) fire in a Roma settlement in the village of Spišský Štiavnik in the Poprad district, more than 140 people lost the roof over their heads. The municipality has temporarily placed them in a local community centre, mainly mothers with children. The mayor, Matúš Korheľ, told TASR that a crisis committee would meet later in the day to decide what would happen to the inhabitants of the burnt dwellings.
