Jan Saudek won a court case against his ex-partner. His pictures belong to him again
The High Court in Prague on Tuesday upheld a lawsuit filed by photographer Jan Saudek against Saudek.com, a company owned by his former partner Sara and his son Samuel. The photographer had sought to invalidate two licence agreements under which Saudek.com decides and represents him. A few months after signing the incriminating contract, Jan Saudek opened his retrospective exhibition with Sara Saudek. The exclusive licensing agreement of 11 May 2005 covers the rights to make reproductions of Saudek’s works – mainly posters and postcards. According to the court, the contract is invalid due to its vagueness. The second document is another version of it and was found to be completely without merit. Tuesday’s court verdict is final.
