First verdict of the Kosovo tribunal. Rebel commander gets 26 years for torture
The Hague-based Special Tribunal for War Crimes in Kosovo (KSC) convicted and sent to prison for 26 years the former commander of the rebel Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK), Salih Mustafa. This is the first verdict handed down by this tribunal. According to Reuters, the convict ran a prison used for torture during the 1998 and 1999 conflict, when Kosovo rebels fought for independence from Serbia.
