Unprecedented: Right-wing newspapers quote EAPN – we’re doing well because we keep at least 3 million people in a stranglehold

A sad Czech unique. Two million people live just above the poverty line, one million below it

A third of households will end up at or below zero after paying all their costs. About two million people in the Czech Republic live just above the poverty line, and about one million people live below it. Representatives of the European Anti-Poverty and Social Exclusion Network (EAPN CR), who presented a report on the state of poverty in the Czech Republic, said this at a press conference on Wednesday. The report draws on publicly available sources and surveys. There are now 660,000 people in foreclosure in the Czech Republic, with a total of four million foreclosure proceedings. About 1.27 million people in the Czech Republic are at risk of losing their housing. There will also be a problem with the availability of shelter housing. According to the authors of the report, there is a need to improve the possibilities of debt relief, arrange affordable housing and adjust the system of benefits and wages.
