Charles University has elected a new rector; former Communist Zima wants to launch a merch e-shop
An analytical chemist and former dean of the Faculty of Science was elected the new rector of Charles University by the Academic Senate on Friday. He received 40 votes in the second round of the election, confirmed Andrej Farkaš, vice-chair of the Academic Senate of Charles University. In February next year, Zima will replace the current rector, Milena Králíčková, who received the second-highest number of votes in the election. Before taking office, he must still be appointed by President Petr Pavel. Zima was a member of the Communist Party before 1989.
