One of the first banknotes in the Czech Republic was auctioned for 1.4 million
One of the first banknotes in our country hit a million at auction. Against the backdrop of the 17 November anniversary celebrations, rare examples of what makes a state a state: its currency were actually being auctioned unobtrusively. At the banknote auction, bidders vied for the oldest and most expensive ones. The most expensive item in the two-day online auction of banknotes that have circulated in Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia from 1762 to the present day was the so-called Vienna banknote of 500 guilders, or gold pieces, from 1806.
