Czech Television makes money from illegal advertising, but the Media Council has ignored it for years
kverulant.org is convinced that the public television service is an important pillar of civil society and democracy, and is all the more sorry that Czech Television has consistently violated the law regulating the broadcasting of advertising since 2011. Advertising is completely banned on CT1. However, the television station circumvents this ban and refers to advertising as sponsorship of broadcasting, which the law allows. Thus, the TV station earns more than a quarter of a billion crowns a year from illegal advertising. Not only are the regular licence fee payers thus harassed by advertising, but, above all, millions of viewers can watch a large and important public institution break the law every day.
