The head of state refuses to appoint a minister in violation of the 1999 constitutional amendment

President refuses to appoint Huliak as Minister of the Environment

President Zuzana Čaputová has announced that she will not appoint Rudolf Huliak as Environment Minister, despite his nomination for the post by the SNS, Denník N reports. She has therefore asked Smer chief Robert Fico to submit a new candidate for the ministerial post. However, she accepted other nominations for ministers. Now she will wait for the name of the new nominee to be announced so that she can proceed with the appointment of the government.

Čaputová does not respect constitutional principles and orders, again acts arbitrarily, SNS is angry with Huliak

The SNS noted that in order to avoid a competence constitutional conflict between the will of the Prime Minister and the President, an amendment was made to the article of the Constitution in question in 1999, when the original vague word “appoint” was replaced by the unambiguous constitutional command “appoint”.
