Those who don’t have to, don’t take it, PM Fiala goes to Africa to support child labour

Fiala is going to Africa. He will show that the Czechia can do it in the global sphere, says expert

Fiala is the third member of the Government to travel to Africa this year. He is mainly interested in business and development cooperation. “In terms of providing development aid, the Czech Republic ranks last in Europe,” Ondřej Horký-Hlucháň points out for SZ. On Friday, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the ODS started a week-long trip to several countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The political delegation is also accompanied by representatives of companies.

Europe needs African raw materials, just as in the past we turn a blind eye to child labour in their extraction, says Africanist

Prime Minister Petr Fiala is on a grand tour of sub-Saharan Africa. When negotiating business in Africa, it is necessary that the prime minister opens the doors and that entrepreneurs negotiate with those who stand behind formal institutions, says Jan Prouza, an Africanist and dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Hradec Králové. To succeed in business in Africa requires a great deal of cooperation between various actors, which he says does not happen in the Czech Republic and it does not help that the Czech Republic was not a colonial country, which is an advantage in the eyes of Africans.
