Prague had a bench made for 850 thousand. It has an added value – you can sit on it, explains its high price
An almost million-dollar bench to sit on? Amazing. With great pomp, Prague 6 unveiled Ferdinand Vanek’s red bench at the end of last year. At first glance, there would be nothing so special about it, if it hadn’t been revealed that it had cost the Dejvice City Hall a whopping CZK 850,000. The prices of ordinary cast-iron benches are somewhere between 5-20 thousand crowns, while the “smart” solar benches with Wi-Fi connection and chargers cost around 90-140 thousand crowns. It is not difficult to calculate how many benches could be worth this amount in Prague.
