More expensive than in Prague. A petition has been started against the price of parking in Svitavy
The Svitavy administration’s plan to calm traffic on the town’s Peace Square has hit a snag. Local businesses and tenants complain that the prices for parking permits are too high. A petition has so far been signed by around 130 people. Alena Zoika has recently added one more duty to her usual family worries. As a resident of the square, she does not drive to her house after coming home from work, but drives through the adjacent streets to the square to find a free parking space. Every weekday at 5 p.m. she returns to her car to re-park it in front of the house. At seven in the morning she gets in it and drives to work. All this so that even as a resident she doesn’t have to pay the eight-thousand-dollar annual fee for a parking card. And she’s not alone.
