Oxford turned down 44 million from Tykac. The university is bothered by investigations into his companies
Oxford University has rejected a £1.4 million (44.1 million crowns) donation from Czech businessman Pavel Tykač. He wanted to donate the money for Czech language teaching. However, the British university was bothered by the fact that Tykač had been investigated by the Swiss prosecutor’s office in the past and that they had also seized his assets, Czech Radio (ČRo) reported. Leading British universities have faced criticism for accepting money from untrustworthy donors.
