Patient health data to go to private firms, another privacy breakthrough

The government wants to give sensitive patient data to companies. Employees of the healthcare chain could also see it

Doctors and lawyers have criticized the amendment to the Health Services Act, which expands the circle of people who can look at a patient’s records without his or her consent. The data will be easily misused, they say. The Ministry of Health is changing the rules for consulting patient records. While today only employees of hospitals and outpatient clinics where the patient has been treated can look through the records, in the future the circle of such people is to be expanded.
