The recently deceased Ombudsman Otakar Motejl and his office were under investigation by the police for several months. According to the findings of news server Aktuálně.cz, which reported on the case, criminal investigators were examining the office’s management. However, the case was shelved shortly before Motejl’s death. Although police officers repeatedly wanted to postpone the case, claiming that no crime had been committed, prosecutors insisted each time that the investigation continue. According to police, behind-the-scenes pressures accompanied the investigation.
