I don’t have money for a snack, an adaptation of the novel Zuzana Čenková’s children into real life in contemporary Ostrava

I don’t have time for a snack. Parents explain why they don’t send their children to school

There are more and more parents in Ostrava who do not send their children to school. Often they explain it by the fact that they do not have enough money for lunches. Instead of going to school, parents prefer to send them to collect iron, which is at least a partial solution to their money problems. The financial difficulties are exacerbated by the increased cost of housing, for which many landlords charge exorbitant amounts. Three Romani children walk on the sidewalk in the ghetto on Jílové Street in Ostrava. It is morning and they should be at school. They are not, because their parents would rather leave them at home than send them off without snacks and lunch.
