The announced end of the Babiš era and the harshest defeat of 2 million people hinders the unification of the nation

Fiala’s optimism needs to be curbed. Did Babiš win, even though he lost? And will his project fall apart?

Almost in parallel with the announcement of the results of the second round of the presidential election, in which Petr Pavel sovereignly won, the third round began: a battle over interpretation and consequences for the future of Czech politics. And it must be said that, unlike the result itself, which marks the most severe defeat of Andrej Babiš in his political career, the battle for the future of our state has no clear winner. Petr Fiala, the chairman of the five-coalition government, immediately after the end of the election contest, claimed that this was the beginning of the end of the Babiš era in Czech politics.
