GLOSA: Don’t touch politics. It’s as if democracy was forgotten in the tragedy.
“I urge everyone not to take advantage of this tragic incident. Politically, to attack the police, to spread disinformation,” Czech President Petr Pavel said after the massacre at the Faculty of Arts in Prague. Others joined in. Miroslav Korecký, a columnist for MF DNES, writes about whether such calls are appropriate. In a similar vein to Pavel’s were the appeals of a number of politicians, mainly Interior Minister Vít Rakušan, but also Prime Minister Petr Fiala. In short: restraint and cohesion are needed in a difficult situation. Above all, do not politicise anything. Do not criticise or question the police intervention, even though there are cracks in their explanations. Do not look for anything and use only verified information from official sources. Those who spread other, unverified (mis)information are going against us and helping Putin.
