Strong talk and deed done, less than a hundred in 1/2 year – this is the balance of the number of volunteers willing to train

Less than a hundred in six months. Czechs are not rushing to the ‘willing to train’ list yet

For six months now, Czech men and women have been able to apply for the so-called voluntary predetermination. The army will then give them priority for training in the event of a crisis. But interest is low. “As of 31 December 2023, less than 100 applications for voluntary predetermination had been submitted,” Vlastimila Cyprisová of the army’s press department told Radiožurnál and the website iROZHLAS.cz. In addition, the average age of those enrolled is forty. Anyone who wants to join the defence of the Czech Republic but is not able to go to the six-week training of the army’s active reserves or become a professional soldier can apply for the so-called voluntary predetermination.
