The declining People’s Party is betting on tried-and-tested themes in the crisis: benefit abuse and racism
Marian Jurečka himself is leading the debate in this direction. According to the statement below his Instagram post, Jurečka and the entire KDU-ČSL are apparently deeply convinced that there is nothing wrong with the way they are conducting the debate. This, too, shows how deeply ingrained racism and prejudiced behavior toward Romani people are in Czech thinking. Jurečka is not the only one who rides the wave of racism and xenophobia – in recent times, Miroslava Němcová (ODS) and Jiří Čunek, a stalwart of the xenophobic People’s Party, have expressed themselves in a similar manner.
