Four ministries want to postpone discussion of the Istanbul Convention again. Because of the “sensitivity of the topic” and the churches
Four ministries are requesting a further one-year delay in the consideration of the Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, known as the Istanbul Convention. However, most ministries are in favour of the Fial government discussing the document and sending it to the House of Commons for possible ratification. Deník N found out which ministries are demanding the one-year delay and why. The Justice Ministry sent the Istanbul Convention to the inter-ministerial comment procedure at the beginning of the year. The proposal included three options for further action: sending the Convention to Parliament for possible ratification, postponing the material for another year, and the third option was to cancel the deliberations.
